Do Something Everyday After Your 9-5

June 26, 2024 by Kazu Fujimoto

You should be doing something every day after your 9-5, if you’re a working professional.

Or if you’re a student, you should find something you should be doing – after class, during summer break (cough), or in your free time.

Although there is a time and place to watch Netflix, you’re much better off being productive.

And if you feel tired – go for a walk, get some exercise, go out to eat with a friend.

Literally anything, but just being stagnant and doing nothing.

I’ve been making it a point recently to go out and do something after work.

Lately, I’ve been getting really addicted to golf and it’s giving my something to look forward to throughout the week. I get to touch grass, get sunlight, hangout with friends, and get to walk. It’s also not that strenuous on my body.

You don’t even have to go to a really nice golf course to have a good time.

In the summer, the golf course I go to – costs $8.25 to play 18 holes of a Par 3.

There’s also something beautiful about doing something so frustrating… like why can’t I hit the damn ball straight? Story of my golf career so far. I did manage to hit a birdie the other day for the first time so that was pretty sweet.

Although going out to eat can be expensive, it’s totally worth it to socialize. You may be inclined to “stay inside” and “eat at home” just to be able to save some money, but the sheer act of going out and socializing is completely worth the money you’ll be spending.

Humans are social creatures, and we all need connection.

You’ll also come to realize that how successful you are in life comes down to your ability at building relationships.

Are you a social person? Good – relationship building will naturally come to you.

Are you a socially anxious person? Bad – you’ll struggle building and developing relationships.

What has naturally been getting me to be more outgoing and extroverted these days are simply just hanging out with people I’m close to.

I’m having a total blast playing golf with my bros after work, grabbing a bite to eat, getting wings, drinking a couple of cold ones.

All of this though, I do attribute to being able to have decent income and a comfortable life.

I did work hard to get to be able to do all of this.

You are 100% capable of doing so too.
