What is Indeed
Indeed is one of the biggest job search engines available for those looking for jobs. Large companies, mid-size, smaller companies, and start ups all post job openings on Indeed.
Indeed is a great tool to use to apply to as many jobs as possible and to get your resume out there to companies.
Why should you go on indeed
Indeed is one of the most universal tools to use for job searching. As a result, you should be using Indeed to broaden up your job searching horizon and get your resume out to as many companies as possible.
Does indeed work?
Indeed 100% does work, even if it doesn’t seem like it. Sometimes it may feel like you’re spending hundreds of hours applying to jobs and hearing nothing back at the same time. This is 100% normal and it’s part of the game.
Certain sectors of the job market are very saturated, and as a result, it’s difficult to look for jobs.
Therefore, you need to do everything to standout in your jobs.
To really have Indeed work in for you to get a job, your resume needs to be in the Top 1%.
We state that a resume needs the following to be in the Top 1%:
- Keywords from the job description
- Quantitative results and accomplishments to showcase your business impact
- ATS compliance
- Be clear and concise
Some things we warn against in resume writing are the following:
- Don’t use multiple pages on your resume, it gives too much for the recruiter to look at
- Don’t overly saturate your resume with soft skills and corporate jargon
- Avoid pictures and infographics on your resume
Type The Position In Which You’re Looking For
In the search engine, simply type the job that you’re looking for.
You’re then going to see hundreds of listings for jobs that meet the criteria you input into the search box.
Take a look around and see what opportunities there are for you.
Scroll Through The Indeed Search Results and See What You Like
Scroll through all of the job searches and see what’s out there.
The next is to make sure you have a solid resume that details what we’ve covered earlier in this page.
Once you make sure you have the best resume, apply to as many jobs as you can.
Apply to the jobs you’re remotely qualified for
Don’t let over-exhaustive job qualifications deter you from applying.
Apply to jobs even when you barely meet the qualifications.
Often times, the job descriptions are merely from templates that the company HR has set for that specific position. Sometimes these requirements even come from 10 years ago, when the position itself is very different.
Yes, it’s unfortunate that companies are still outdated in practices, but when you start working for bigger name companies, you’ll see that they run off of processes and procedures. Old processes and procedures, that are entirely outdated and need to be revised, but the company just uses them because, “that’s the way things are done”
Do not sell yourself short and apply to as many jobs as you’re remotely qualified for. Don’t let job descriptions or very demanding sounding job descriptions scare you.
You may be a victim to imposter syndrome and not fully believe in your capabilities.
Apply to jobs anyways as the worst employers can do is say no.
Keep track of all of the various jobs you’re applying to
Make sure you know how to keep track of all of the jobs that you’re applying to.
When you apply to hundreds of jobs, it gets overwhelming, especially when there are so many job descriptions and resumes and links to deal with.
Having a spreadsheet that covers the following is what you need to make sure you keep track of job descriptions:
- Employer name
- Job title
- Job description
- Link
- Hiring manager and recruiters
- Additional notes you may have
- Date applied
- Application deadline
- Application status
If you keep track of the above in a spreadsheet, you’ll have no issues filtering through it if you need to open up a specific link or need specific information.
Try to find recruiters for the Indeed job postings on LinkedIn
If you have some extra time and you’ve already sent out hundreds of job applications, the next step would be to look around for recruiters for the specific job.
Reach out to them and tell them that you’re interested in the position.
Doing this will get you through the initial screening and even get you an HR Phone Screening right off the bat.
This is a quick way to get your foot in the door that not many realize yet.
Take the extra step after applying to jobs to reach out to recruiters and start seeing more interviews.
Make sure your application materials such as your resume are solid
You should absolutely have the best resume you can possibly have.
A good resume consists of keywords, quantitative results and accomplishments, and is clear and concise.
Make sure your resume is ATS compliant as it will need to get through the initial applicant tracking system to get into a recruiters hands.
